Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 1 January 2025  ·  Version 1.0

These terms set out the basis on which Welaxin provides watch servicing and restoration services. Please read them before leaving a watch with us. If anything is unclear, we are glad to talk it through.

1. About These Terms

These terms and conditions apply to all watch servicing and restoration work carried out by Welaxin (148 Charoen Krung Road, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand) and to your use of our website at welaxin.info.

By leaving a watch with us or by submitting an enquiry, you agree to these terms. We will also provide you with a written service note at the time of drop-off summarising the agreed scope and price; in the event of any conflict between that note and these terms, the service note takes precedence for the specific job it describes.

2. Accepting a Watch for Service

Before we begin work, we will examine your watch and discuss your requirements with you. We will provide an initial assessment of the condition of the piece and recommend an appropriate service level.

Work begins only once you have given us written or verbal confirmation of the agreed scope. If, during servicing, we discover additional issues not visible at the outset, we will pause and contact you before proceeding further.

We accept watches for service at the workshop by appointment and occasionally by prior arrangement for postal delivery. We do not accept responsibility for loss or damage in transit when a watch is sent to us without prior agreement.

3. Estimates & Pricing

Published service prices represent our standard fee for typical work within each category. In some cases — particularly for vintage movements with unusual wear or for watches requiring specialist parts — the final cost may differ from the initial estimate. We will always inform you of any anticipated change before it is incurred.

All prices are stated in Thai Baht (฿) and are inclusive of labour. Parts sourced especially for a particular job are billed at cost plus a small handling allowance, which we will itemise on your receipt.

An estimate is valid for 30 days from the date it is provided. After that period, we may need to reassess if we have not heard from you.

4. Turnaround Times

Indicative turnaround periods are provided for each service level and represent our best assessment at the time of acceptance. They are not contractual commitments. The following may affect timing:

  • difficulty sourcing period-appropriate or specialist parts
  • discovery of additional wear or damage once the movement is open
  • queue position and workshop capacity at the time of acceptance

We will keep you informed of any material delay. If a job is likely to exceed the indicated period by more than one week, we will contact you to discuss the reason and the revised expected date.

5. Parts & Materials

For vintage movement overhauls, we source period-appropriate parts wherever possible. Where an exact original part is unavailable, we will discuss alternatives with you before fitting anything. We do not fit aftermarket parts without your knowledge and agreement.

Replaced parts — such as worn mainsprings or damaged gaskets — are available for you to take away on request. Please let us know at the time of drop-off if you would like to keep them.

6. Care of Your Watch While With Us

Watches in our care are stored in a secure, climate-appropriate environment. We treat every piece with the same attention we would give our own.

We carry appropriate insurance for watches in our custody. Coverage applies from the moment a watch is formally accepted into our care and ceases when it is collected or dispatched. If you have your own insurance, we recommend checking that it extends to periods when the watch is with a repairer.

In the very unlikely event that a watch sustains damage while in our custody due to our negligence, our liability is limited to the reasonable cost of repair or, where repair is not feasible, the fair market value of the watch at the time it was accepted. We are not liable for consequential or sentimental loss.

7. Collection & Unclaimed Watches

When your watch is ready, we will contact you using the details you provided. Please collect within 30 days of notification. We will send a reminder after 14 days if we have not heard from you.

Watches uncollected after 90 days from notification, despite reasonable attempts to reach you, may at our discretion be subject to a storage charge after the first 60 days. After 180 days without contact, we reserve the right to apply to the relevant Thai authority for permission to dispose of the watch, with any proceeds applied first against any outstanding balance and storage costs.

We recognise these situations are rare and are always willing to make reasonable arrangements if your circumstances have changed. Please do get in touch.

8. Payment

Payment is due in full on collection of the watch or on delivery if dispatch has been agreed. We accept cash in Thai Baht and bank transfer. Please confirm your preferred method when dropping off.

We do not require a deposit for standard service and cleaning. For more extensive work — particularly Complete Case & Dial Restoration — we may request a partial deposit at the outset, which will be discussed and agreed with you in advance.

We retain a lien over watches in our possession until our account is settled in full.

9. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Subject to the above, our total liability to you in connection with any service, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, is limited to the amount paid by you for that service. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses, or for loss of enjoyment, use, or anticipated savings.

We are not responsible for pre-existing faults not disclosed at the time of acceptance, or for the long-term performance of watches where our recommendations on service intervals or storage conditions have not been followed.

10. Disputes

If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us in the first instance. We would like the opportunity to understand what has gone wrong and, where possible, to put it right.

Most concerns can be resolved through a direct conversation. We take quality seriously and would rather hear from you than have you feel unheard.

If a matter cannot be resolved informally, the dispute shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Thai courts in accordance with Thai law.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any dispute arising from these terms or from the services we provide shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Thailand.

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, dated accordingly. Continued use of our services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
